San Fernando Valley Mocha Moms
Pulled BBQ Pork by MM Tammy
Ingredients:
1 3-4lb Boneless Boston Butt Pork Roast (did you know that Boston Butt is
really a shoulder cut)?
2/3 cup of brown sugar
1/3 cup of Worcestershire Sauce
Garlic Powder
Pepper
2 tbsp Onion Powder
1 Bottle of Brown Sugar & Hickory flavored BBQ Sauce or your own
personal favorite
Directions:
Different recipes say different things, but this is how I did it.
Take kitchen twine off of roast, rinse and put in crockpot. Pour in
Worcestershire Sauce and Brown Sugar. Rub all over the roast (I suggest
using one hand and keeping the other clean for the spices).
Liberally sprinkle on lots of Garlic Powder, Onion Powder and a little pepper.
Pat it all in and flip a few times to make sure the seasonings get all up in there.
Put on lid, turn on crockpot, turn it on low and cook for 8 hours. At the 8th
hour take off the lid and using two forks try to "pull" the meat apart. If it falls
apart with little to no effort, it's done, if not let it cook another hour or two.
When it's done, scoop out the roast and it's pieces (it'll be so tender that you'll
probably need to use tongs). Drain the juice (yes there will be LOTS
of juice), pour on your favorite bottle of bbq sauce and mix it all together.
Put it all back in the crockpot and keep it on warm for another hour, letting the
sauce really kick it up a notch.
Serve warm on GOOD buns like Oroweat...none of that cheap stuff, or
even try Pita Bread...I did this morning and it was great.
Ya'll, I'll never need to to go to a BBQ restaurant again for a sandwich!
If you're real country make some coleslaw and put it on top of the
sandwich too (I know some of ya'll know what I'm talking about).
