Greens Recipe by MM Paula
INGREDIENTS:
6 bunches of collards
smoked turkey breast
bacon,
bellpepper,
onion
garlic
cabbage(one head)
Tony Cachere’s creole seasoning
Salt and pepper
You can also mix in mustard greens and red bell pepper for color
DIRECTIONS:
Line a pan with the turkey meat after frying it. Fry bacon. Save
drippings to cook the cut up onions, bell pepper, and garlic. Heat
wok with water inside, add greens, onion mixture and Tony’s
seasoning layer by layer. Let it shrink down. Add a little oil to
the mix. Transfer to the pan with the turkey, bake with foil cover
at 275 for a while. Wok all greens with water don’t let them get
dry. That’s it. Paula
French Toast Casserole by MM Lainika
(A Retreat favorite)
INGREDIENTS:
6-7 eggs beaten
1 c half and half
1 c milk
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp cinnamon
1 loaf French bread (in the bread aisle, not the bakery) cut
diagonally
DIRECTIONS:
In a large bow, whisk together all of the ingredients except the
bread.
Dip bread in mixture and layer bread in a buttered casserole
dish. Pour the rest of the mixture on top.
Put it in the! fridge overnight.
The next morning: Preheat oven to 350:
INGREDIENTS:
2 stick of melted butter
1 ½ cup of brown sugar
2 tbsp maple syrup
DIRECTIONS:
Mix in a pot on medium heat until well blended.
Spoon mixture over the bread.
Bake for 40 minutes at 350. (convection 30 minutes)
Should be golden brown when served
